A Word from the Principal

The Mountbatten Vocational School is a unique institution that runs a certified programme for a disabled cohort.

The cohort comprises Deaf, Intellectually Disabled and a small number of Multiply Disabled trainees.

The programme is a Basic Skills Training package that leads to real-life work experience.

At the MVS, we value independence for our trainees. Ultimately, we want our trainees to realise their goal of being able to contribute to the community by remaining self-sufficient. The path to self-sufficiency is not always smooth. It means being flexible and being able to adapt to changing industry demands. This is achieved through active learning and re-learning. The programme equips trainees with the ability to be employed in industries for which they have received training. Much depends on the individual's desire to upgrade be it academically or in terms of skills.

We see ourselves as a service on the continuum of education and training. The success we experience in having individuals suitably trained, reinforces the belief that young people with disability CAN and WILL be successful with the right training and a good attitude.
